April’s VoiceOver Network Event

Rachael Naylor is a very clever VO artist. She saw a niche in the market for a forum for UK voice artists to gather, network, learn and listen to eachother – and it works. There is a monthly membership in exchange for a magazine, “The Buzz”; discounts from various suppliers relating to the VoiceOver world and reduced priority tickets to VONetwork events.

It was brilliant!

I fast tracked some Vistaprint business cards (after reading the importance of your picture, succinctness and not skimping on quality) and headed off to the big smoke.

This particular event was about Social Media and the Guest Speaker was Oscar from Grand Central Studios. He spoke for about 40 minutes on the different social networks available and how he has come to use them, people asked questions and discussed benefits and issues of each.

Then we all went back out for drinks and nibbles (the best bit) and loads of talking – it is after all what we do best!

I met lots of people. Some just starting out like me, some more experienced VOs and some legendary ones who I recognised from reading their newsletters and blogs. Social media and VO makes us all friends and everyone shared whatever knowledge they have and I took on board any and all information available.

Now I have to put it into practice!
